Article 24. “Healing the Planet.” By Hanna Moog

When we go to the I Ching because we seek healing from an illness, or from the break-up of a close relationship, we do this because we are aware that we need help that is outside of what conventional wisdom or science have to offer.

The increase in devastating wild fires, floods and unusual weather phenomena call for the healing of “something.” The question is: what is it that really needs to be healed?

I have put this question to the Sage, the voice that speaks through the I Ching. What follows is the lesson I learned.

(All quotes are taken from “I Ching, the Oracle of the Cosmic Way.”)

The first hexagram I received was Hexagram 11, Harmony, Peace, Prosperity.

I was led to:

Line 1. When ribbon grass is pulled up, the sod comes with it. Each according to his kind. Undertakings bring good fortune.

(Quote from the book:) The basic mistaken idea indicated by this line is that ‘humans are at the center of the universe.’ When this idea is combined with the idea that humans’ animal nature is the source of evil,’ a basis is provided for the further idea that it is the human job to order and control Nature, including human nature. Because these phrases slander the Cosmic Helpers that achieve their tasks in cooperation with the Helpers of Nature, their help is blocked. When confronted with this distorted reality, the false conclusion is drawn that ‘humans must do everything themselves,’ including correcting the distortions in Nature created by humans. The latter phrase puts yet another spell on Nature.

This line applies to the person who has separated from the Cosmos and its help by having accepted the above-mentioned mistaken ideas. He is informed that he can be reunited with the Cosmic Whole if he will rid himself of them. These are the “undertakings” that “bring good fortune.” The effect of ridding one’s personal program of the “ribbon grass” is obvious; the statement that “the sod comes with it” points to the less obvious fact that the power of the collective ego (“the sod”) over the individual is thereby diminished.

Comment: This hexagram informs us (1) that the Cosmos is a harmonious order characterized by peace and prosperity; (2) that humans have separated themselves from this order by assuming the idea that ‘they are at the center of the universe;’ (3) that this mistaken idea has led to their creating disorder, and (4) that they can only create more disorder by trying to correct the disorder because any such attempts would still be based on the fundamentally flawed idea that ‘everything is up to us humans.’

Does this mean that humans are not meant to do anything on the outer plane? The answer is: the correction in our way of thinking is of the primary order — then, what needs to be done on the outer plane, flows from there.

The Sage continued its lesson by pointing to Hexagram 16. Enthusiasm (Motivating the Helper of Transformation)

Comment: This hexagram informs us about the true source of enthusiasm: the Sage, our personal inner Cosmic Teacher. Every person possesses this inner Teacher, but when we become conditioned to view the world from the human-centered perspective, our inner Sage retreats to a place outside of us. The Sage will return the moment we sincerely ask it to show us what we need to understand, and then do. This “doing” usually refers to some inner action the nature of which is often indicated in the book.

Quote from “The Judgment”: It furthers one to install Helpers and to set armies marching.

Comment: The mention of “Helpers” in the I Ching refers to invisible helping forces that make up the harmonious order of the Cosmos. There are the Cosmic Helpers and the Helpers of Nature. Together they maintain and restore the Cosmic order. The above oracle saying advises us to ask for Cosmic help and, in the particular situation, in which we are given Hexagram 16, to also call on the “Army of Cosmic Helpers.” These Helpers restore order not through “fighting,” but through transformations.

Even if we have not freed ourselves entirely from the human-centered view, the Cosmic Helpers will respond to our sincere call for help.

A note to the reader of this blog: When you have read this blog and wish to learn more about any additional inner actions you are meant to take, please ask the Sage to guide you by giving you additional hexagrams.

Article 23. Getting vaccinated or not

A year has passed since I posted an article on this blog called: "What we need to do to free ourselves from the collective fate that has come in the form of the Corona Virus." (See Article 21)

Now, the time has come to share a new lesson the Sage has given me on the subject. (The quotes are taken from our book "I Ching, The Oracle of the Cosmic Way.")

The lesson is also intended for people who have already been vaccinated. They can still do the same exercises described below.

The lesson began by my being made aware of the danger that lies in our using the name "Corona Virus."

Why is the use of that name dangerous? All names that do not express the essence of a thing cause our mind to attach itself to that false name. More specifically, it is an attachment the ego uses for its purposes by creating ego-emotions, which it stores in our heart, such as fears, hopes, anxiety, anger, despair, and blame put on other people, or on the Cosmos. From our heart they circulate back to our mind causing it to attach itself all the more to what is false. Obviously, what is needed is that we become detached first from the false name and the image connected with it, including all images of suffering! In detaching ourselves from them we deprive them of the means that had allowed them to "own" us. The salient point is to create an enduring separation between ourselves and that which is "not us." To create this separation requires that we deprogram the name "Corona Virus," the false image connected with it, and all images of suffering. (See the instructions at the end of this lesson.)

The Sage agrees that we simply refer to it as the "virus."

I was then given Hexagram 30. Attaining Clarity. Lines 1, 3, 4, and 6

"The Judgment: Firm attachment to what is correct brings success.”

“Attachment to anything but our inner truth produces the fear of losing that thing. The fear then makes us attach all the more to it. "

Comment: It is interesting to notice the emphasis on the issue of "attachment." Once again, the Sage wants to draw our attention to the fact that the only thing we are meant to be attached to is our Inner Truth.

The fear of infection creates an attachment to the vaccine, in the sense of a false dependency

"The Sage shows the theme of this hexagram to be the Cosmic Principle of Clarity as a characteristic feature of Cosmic Logic. Like all Cosmic Principles that form harmony, clarity and Cosmic Logic are attained through a combination of thinking and feeling. They cannot be attained through mental effort alone. Clarity is attained through connecting with our inner truth, with the help of the Sage. The Cosmic Logic within a situation is mostly perceptible after the fact."

Comment: In order to attain the necessary clarity, i.e., understand the Cosmic Logic about how to relate to the virus we need to detach from calling it by a false name and holding an image up to our inner eyes that represents its outer, scary appearance. The correct image of the virus would show us what has caused it, in other words, it would show us its inner truth. That inner truth was revealed by the Sage in the lesson posted on "Our Blog," a year ago.

"Line 1. Moving with confused steps, but if one is sincere, there is no blame.

The line indicates a situation in which a person, upon consulting the Sage, does not know how to interpret the counsel given. He therefore moves uncertainly. He would like to let go of his beliefs, but still feels a security in the attachment he has to them. “No blame” is saying that if he puts his established beliefs aside, he will be protected by the Cosmos, even if he makes a mistake. His sincerity will bring Cosmic Protection against the ill consequences of making mistakes.

Comment: The Sage knows about the mixed feelings we may have when counseled to detach from our habitual ways of thinking. It does not ask us to "believe" or to "trust" anything. However, we also cannot have a new experience by clutching to our established beliefs. The counsel is to temporarily suspend our disbelief. We do this by asking "the Helpers" (unspecific) to "temporarily suspend our disbelief." Making this request opens our mind just enough to allow for the experience of Cosmic help. It also allows the Cosmic Helpers to suspend any conscious or unconscious feelings of guilt we may have for following an untrodden path. Guilt, as the Sage has taught us, is not a true feeling, but a concept invented by the ego to hold us within the human-centered view.

What counts for the success of our undertaking is our sincerity.

"Line 3. [In the light of the setting sun, men either beat the pot and sing, or loudly bewail the approach of old age. Misfortune.]

He also needs to deprogram any preconceived images and beliefs about old age: that it is accompanied by sickness, debilitating diseases, suffering, the onset of deafness, blindness, helplessness, etc., since every belief about what “might” happen projects itself into reality."

Comment: Transferred onto the present situation with the virus, this is counsel to deprogram any scary images of suffering you hold, because, like all false images, they may project themselves into reality.

"Line 4. Its coming is sudden, it flames up, dies down, is thrown away.

The straw fire that flames up, dies down and is thrown away can refer to glimpses of clarity that a person attains through his learning with the Sage. Because he does not inquire further, his understanding is only partial, and therefore he jumps to the false conclusion that what the Sage has said was not true."

Comment: We are being made aware of the danger of quickly glossing over the help the Sage has been offering us (see above), by listening to external sources of information coming from human experts. We need to keep in mind that even the best experts are themselves ridden by fears.

"Line 6. The king uses him to march forth and chastise. Then it is best to kill the leaders and take captive the followers. No blame.”

“The king referred to is the Sage. The line informs a person that he is meant to be helped by the Sage in correcting the abuses of others through saying the inner No to their inappropriate actions and intentions, and through not participating himself in the evil being done.”

“Killing the leaders instead of the followers refers to saying the inner No to the central idea that is responsible for the problem. Deprogramming the central idea enables the Helpers to “kill” the followers (its supporting rationales)."

Comment: In this line the Sage addresses our possible desire to also help others realize that they, too, can draw on Cosmic help to bring themselves into harmony with the inner truth of the situation. How is this to be carried out? By arousing their inborn Inner Truth. (We remember that we all share our Inner Truth, also known as "DNA.") We do this by giving them the inner message that the virus can be stopped if every person withdraws from giving credence to the central mistaken idea that 'there is no help for the situation other than what the human authorities offer us.'

Re: The question of getting vaccinated or not

The Sage counsels us not to look at this question as an "either/or" issue because doing so would create an inner conflict. When we include the invisible Helpers in our life, we can safely follow a rule pronounced by human authorities in order to outwardly conform. This is the meaning of "living in the Cosmic reality, while at the same time living in the parallel reality."

Help for your deprogramming:

(Note: You can either say the inner "No" yourself, or ask the Sage to say it for you.)

(1)

"I inwardly say No, No, No, to the name 'corona virus' and 'any other names' used in the medical community.

" I inwardly say No, No, No, to the image of the virus, and to any scary images of suffering I hold."

"I ask the Cosmic Surgeon and the Helper of My Inner Truth to free me from that false name and any false images I hold."

(This is a one-time deprogramming procedure.)

(2)

"I inwardly say No, No, No, to, "There is no help for the situation other than what the authorities offer us."

"I inwardly ask the Cosmic Surgeon and the Cosmic Army to free me from that untruth."

"In addition, I ask the Helpers of Self-Healing of My Genes to destroy all the 'followers' of that mistaken idea."

(You need to repeat the deprogramming two more times, once per day.)

Finally, the Sage wants us to clearly understand that it is not saying, "It is okay to get vaccinated," if we do not care to prepare ourselves as described above.

Article 22. Worrying about the means we need to express our uniqueness. By Hanna Moog

We have learned from the Sage that we fulfill our Cosmic Destiny by expressing our uniqueness. Now, the question is: Where do the means come from to carry this out?

Hexagram 14, Possession in Great Measure, shows us that we not only come into this life each with unique possessions, but that we also receive material and immaterial gifts throughout our lives that are essential to allowing our unique combination of talents to unfold and grow as we bring them to expression. Examples of such gifts are: an education, relationships, opportunities of all sorts, money, a home, a car, and any number of other means.

When it comes to the means, however, there is an aspect that has, until recently, been hidden from my view. I was worrying about the financial and other means that would allow me to express my creativity in the long term. Turning to the Sage for help I was advised to ask for a vision of my short-term goal. After I had closed my eyes and made my request, I was reminded of something I had learned about thirty years ago from an Austrian farmer. It was a lesson about the amazing function of earthworms! He explained that when we humans do not interfere with artificial fertilizers, the earthworms have the ability to adapt the composition of the soil to fit the exact needs of the plants we put in it. I asked the Sage whether we possess a function in our natural makeup that accomplishes something similar to what the earthworm does? In reply, the Sage drew my attention to a particular function in our psyche, called the "organizing function."

The Organizing Function (excerpt from our book "The Psyche Revealed Through the I Ching," Chapter 8: The Functions of the Psyche.)

The working out of our Cosmic destiny is something that occurs mostly outside the direction of our mind, but which nevertheless needs the mind’s assent. The organizing function puts together the seemingly unrelated paths we have taken, in such a way as to make our mind aware, in retrospect, of how they have all contributed to a learning process, the goal of which is the fulfilling of our Cosmic destiny. In terms of the metaphor of the weaving of the carpet of our Cosmic destiny, the psyche provides the weft onto which the material provided by the thinking consciousness gets woven, while the color of the material comes from our feeling consciousness. Our feeling consciousness must guide each movement in making the carpet. In this weaving process no experience is wasted, provided that we later make the effort to process any negative experiences.

The carpet in our psyche gets woven when we work on something creative. The psyche finds the pieces we need that explain something of Cosmic significance to us. It also draws us to see how one thing is related to another in a way that is unconscious to the mind. Thus, it is as if we are on a treasure hunt that combines skill and surprise. It is the psyche that possesses the skill in finding and putting the pieces together, while the mind, by staying open, delights in the surprise. In the end, as every person who has ever engaged in an art form or creative project knows, the psyche is the lead element and the completer of the project.

(End of quote.)

To expand on this lesson the Sage pointed me to the following text in Hexagram 42, Increasing: "The aid of the Helpers is essential to all activities that lead to increase, because they alone are able to make the transformations in the atomic realm that give actuality to what is potential. This potential first exists as a feeling, then as an image in the invisible world of consciousness. The Helper of Transformation performs the functions of manifesting what is potential into actuality, and of giving it duration in a way that benefits the whole."

From this text I learned that I needed to ask the "Cosmic Helper of Increasing" to activate all the Helpers needed to use all resources that are available to me and transform them into the means I need to grow and express myself creatively.

Soon after making the above request I remembered people from the past who possess the very skills I will need to carry out a particular creative writing project. They were delighted to be asked, and ever ready to help!

Article 21. What we need to do to free ourselves from the collective fate that has come in the form of the Corona Virus

The following lesson from the Sage that speaks through the I Ching, shows how we can either prevent our getting the Corona Virus, or free ourselves from its grip, should we have already contracted it.

The Sage informs us that the Corona Virus is an adverse fate that affects many of us. Our first task, therefore, is to gain a correct understanding of Fate. This is imperative if we want to be freed of it. To answer this question the Sage pointed to Hexagram 34, Using Power, making it clear that this is a collective fate caused by the human use of power

The first misunderstanding the Sage wants to clear up is the idea that Fate is the action of a "higher power." We are counseled to hold back from thinking in those terms. The I Ching, in Hexagram 34, Using Power, makes it clear that the Cosmos does NOT work through "power." The human use of power creates a fate because it contradicts the Cosmic Principles of Harmony and the Principles of Nature.

Fate is itself a Cosmic Principle of Harmony. Its function is to ensure the continuation of the harmonious order of the Cosmos. Fate, therefore, has the following purposes: (1) to compensate for the damage done to the Cosmic Whole by any use of power on the part of humans; (2) to bring us (literally) back from being up in the air in our thinking, to back on the ground; (3) Fate serves to make us aware of the negative consequences of our mistaken ideas and beliefs, and (4) it serves the purpose of reducing us to an attitude of openness and humility that will help us shake loose the hold of the ego. The severity of a fate corresponds to the degree needed to wake us up; that is to say, its force depends upon the degree of our rigidity, and the strength of our attachment to false ideas and beliefs.

Fate comes to an end when it has fulfilled its purposes. The end can occur in different ways: (1) by bringing us to the state of burnout, in which we see how our mistaken ideas have led to a dead-end; (2) when we have, of our own accord, sought the causes of the fate and rid ourselves of them with Cosmic help, or (3) when the fate has run its full course of time, like a prison sentence. In this latter case, we may not have corrected our viewpoint, but we have experienced the heavy consequences of our mistaken views.

Hexagram 34, Line 4. Being firmly correct brings good fortune. Remorse disappears. The hedge opens; there is no entanglement. Strength (movement) depends upon the axles of a big cart.

This line describes the conditions under which we can get disentangled from a fate. Our disentanglement depends entirely on our consciously recognizing that we need Cosmic help

The text of Line 4 speaks of "strength (movement/energy) that depends upon the axles of a big cart." Here, the cart represents the Cosmic Reality with all the Helpers of the invisible world ready to do their tasks through transformation. The axles, upon which the cart depends to create the Evolution of the whole, represent the Cosmic Principles of Harmony and the Principles of Nature that complement each other, the one applying to the sphere of the invisible Cosmic Consciousness, the other to the world of form (Nature). The harmonious attraction between them creates the energy that has falsely been called “power.” The line is stating that if we will free ourselves from the idea that the Cosmos and Nature work through power, we will attract the Cosmic Helpers to the task of freeing us from our fate. Then, all cause for remorse disappears.

The words, “being firmly correct” counsel us to depend on what is truly dependable: the Cosmic Principles of Harmony complemented by the Principles of Nature.

In order to engage Cosmic help to end a fate we also need to recognize what has caused it. All causes for fates have in common that they are based on the fundamental mistaken idea that "power," in one form or another, is the way things work. Even the idea of being "powerless" is based on that idea. (In our book "I Ching, the Oracle of the Cosmic Way," we have listed the kinds of incorrect thoughts, speech, and actions that are related to the word "power.")

We also need to know the kind of mistaken ideas and beliefs (listed below) that prevent fates from ending, even after they have run their full course:

·     "Fate is predestined, or written in the stars."

·     “There is nothing you can do when a fate occurs.”

·     "Fate is thrust upon humans by a higher power."

·     "Fate is God's punishment."

·     "We must accept our fate."

·     "We need to fight a fate."

·     "We can make deals with Fate."

·     "We can disregard the limits set by the laws of physics."

·     "Humans are meant to overcome the limits set by the laws of physics."

The Sage, when asked about the specific causes of the Corona Virus, pointed to the arrogant idea that 'humans are above the other animals because they have the gifts of thinking and verbal language.' That mistaken idea, in turn, has led to the mistreatment of animals and to denigrating slanders put on our human animal nature, such as the following:

— "Our nature is divided into a higher/good nature and a lower/evil animal nature."

— "Our mind is part of our higher nature, and to be valued; the body is ‘our lower animal nature’ that at times must be sacrificed to the greater public good.”

— "We need to develop our higher nature and conquer/overcome/control our lower nature."

The above mistaken ideas and beliefs have created life-threatening consequences for the entire animal kingdom, of which we humans are a part. The Sage informs us that these and other mistaken ideas and beliefs have, for millennia, created viruses of all kinds. Every one of them has been a messenger of Fate. What we are now dealing with in the Corona Virus is that it attacks our breathing — the source of our connection with Nature on which we depend to stay alive!

When we realize that there is a direct relationship between this virus and the human thinking that (1) feeds on the vanity of the mind, (2) that constantly slanders the dignity of the other animals, and (3) that denies that the Cosmos is a harmonious order that does not use "power," we may be ready to correct our thinking. To receive the help from the Cosmos we need to successfully carry this out, and we need to have a sincere desire to return to the harmonious order of the Cosmos.

For those of us who have identified with the above-mentioned mistaken ideas and beliefs, the time has come to free our psyche from their destructive nature. In order to do this, we need to deny their validity by inwardly saying, "No, No, No" to each false idea and/or belief that applies to us. We further need to add the mistaken idea that underlies them all: "The universe works through power." We then ask the Cosmic Helper that Ends Fates to free us from these mistaken ideas and beliefs. This is a one-time deprogramming procedure.

(Note: If you feel that your inner "No" has been disabled, you need to ask the Sage to say it on our behalf.)

If you are taking medical drugs against the virus, it will be helpful to ask the Cosmic Doctor  to give them its support. Furthermore you need to ask the Helpers of Self-Healing of Your Genes to free you from all the "followers" of the virus. What do we mean by "followers"? The I Ching speaks of the "ringleaders of disorder" and their "followers" in the Hexagrams 11 and 30. The Corona Virus is such a "ringleader of disorder." Among the "followers" in this case are demonic elements and demonic mechanisms that injure our genes. We do not need to identify these "followers" in any detail. The Helpers of Self-Healing of Our Genes free us from them and repair any damage they have done to our genes. You will need to make the request to the Cosmic Doctor and to the Helpers of Self-Healing of Your Genes once per day as long as indicated by the Sage.

Article 20. “What is the purpose of my life?” By Hanna Moog

Looking back over our lives, it seems to me that this question — although only rarely brought to the forefront of our consciousness — determines most decisions and choices we make after entering our early twenties: By that time we will have adopted a major self-image that is supposed to be the answer to our life’s purpose: it may be the self-image of “the avid learner,” “the dedicated wife” or “the good husband,” “the researcher,” “the explorer,” "the doctor," etc..

The fact that we generally attempt to define our life's purpose in terms of a positive self-image gives us reason to question whether such an attempt has any Cosmic validity; or, whether it is one of those illusory goals that come from the collective ego that trap us in an endless pursuit to find a place in society.

When we realize that the attainment of every much-admired self-image requires enormous energy in striving to perfect it, often leading us to the point of exhaustion and to alienation from Cosmic protection and help, we don't need to look further for the answer as to where the idea of “seeking for the purpose of our lives” originates. It is a mistaken idea that causes us to doubt our true place in the Cosmos.

How then does the Sage define that true place that each of us has in the Cosmos?

The Sage has explained to us that the overarching Cosmic purpose is to increase the Cosmic Consciousness and its expression in form. “Its expression in form” refers to its expression in the multitudinous forms of Nature and in a Culture that is created in accord with the Cosmic Principles of Harmony. Every human being is born with a unique combination of gifts and talents. Our contribution to the overarching Cosmic purpose consists in bringing that unique combination of gifts and talents to expression. This is the definition of true creativity. There is a danger in viewing creativity as something that needs to fit either into the frames of “usefulness” or “good for nothing,” when those ideas of what is useful are mainly defined by the collective ego. Only by giving our gifts and talents free play — without censorship — can true creativity unfold.

A little note on the side: When Carol and I learned from the Sage that every aspect of Nature has a unique function in the Cosmos as a Whole, we asked ourselves, “What is the unique function of a squirrel?” We came up with several hypotheses, such as, “its function is to contribute to the spreading of oak trees by burying acorns.” However, the Sage kept saying “No.” We paused for a while to give the Sage space to give us an insight. Then the answer came: the function of the squirrel is to contribute to the diversity and beauty of Nature. The Sage had flung open a window to a Cosmic view that exploded our idea of “usefulness!”

There is one hexagram in the I Ching that indirectly addresses the conditions under which we are able to express our human creativity in accord with the Cosmic Principles of Harmony. It is Hexagram 11, Harmony, Peace, Prosperity. That hexagram makes us aware of the main mistaken ideas that have slandered and blocked our developing a healthy relationship with the Cosmos.  In that process we have also imprisoned the Helper of our Creativity. When this Helper is imprisoned, we either pursue perfecting  a positive self-image that is admired by our culture, or we constantly seek to suppress a negative one. Because either of these preoccupations is based on being recognized by the outer world, they leave the basic need to know and respect our true selves unattended. As a consequence, we end up feeling bored and lacking in inspiration and purpose. Through freeing ourselves from those mistaken ideas and from all negative and positive self-images, we free the Helper of our Creativity.  By doing that we free the source of creative inspiration that lies within each of us.

The questions that lead us to fulfillment in our lives are those that enable us to know our true place in the Cosmos: How can we express our unique combination of gifts and talents that are by nature in accord with the Cosmic Principles of Harmony? The answer to this question is stored in our Treasure Chest of Inner Truth. Getting to know our true nature is what happens when we regularly consult the I Ching.
